About
This workshop looks at composition, the act of putting things together, through a fresh lens. We will observe an array of famous works to compile a current list of what we consider a “good” composition. Using collage and mixed media we will experiment with the different compositional elements to stretch our comfort zones and understanding of the creative process.
Suggested materials
- Magazine, newspapers, catalogs etc.
- School glue
- Pencil or pen -colored pencils or crayons
- Mixed media or watercolor paper at least 3 pages no bigger than 8x10”
Additional/optional
- Painting supplies
- Texture materials: moss, glitter, sandpaper cotton balls, pipe cleaners, yarn etc.
- Colored construction paper
About Latasha Dunston
Latasha Dunston is an illustrator, painter, and plant lover. She received her BFA from Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts with a concentration in Scientific and Medical Illustration. When she is not in the studio, she is cooking up a storm in the kitchen, tending to her plants, hiking and camping , or traveling to somewhere new. Her love of the outdoors is a vital part of my identity and I try and share that passion with as many as I can to help show that the outdoors is for everyone.
